Meggie has now participated in two Bark for Life events sponsored by the American Cancer Society. Many people have asked "What is a Bark for Life"? It's basically a mini Relay for Life that is a dog walk. When people hear this they tend to act in one of two ways - dog person: neat! non-dog person - eye roll. The money raised still goes to the American Cancer Society, so I don't understand the non-dog person's sarcastic reaction. People who treat their dogs as family find this as a fun and worthwhile event. There were doggie contests and wonderful prizes awarded at these events and the dogs had a great time socializing too. Meggie was especially entranced at watching hot dogs cook on the grill.
The events Megs participated in were in Surry County, NC. One at Elkin City Park and one in Dobson at Fisher River Park. She raised an additional $235 for the ACS bringing her total for 2009 to $4235. Not bad for a golden retriever!
